Come autumn, there’s no more inviting destination than the Berkshires. Spanning the western part of Massachusetts (west of the Connecticut River) and the lower Westfield River, it’s one of the best places to see fall foliage in the country: The air is crisp, the changing leaves are awe-inspiring and the cozy factor is off the charts. And sure, you could stay at one of the area’s local hotels (we highly recommend the Cornell Inn, aka the most charming little bed and breakfast you ever did see). Or, you could book yourself a four-bedroom, six bathroom retreat overlooking Laurel Lake in all its splendor. More than just offering stunning waterfront views and amenities galore (we’re talking a rooftop deck, a hot tub and top-of-the-line appliances (yes, there's a KitchenAid mixer, $449), you can treat this 4,000-square-foot Berkshires vacation rental (from $713 per night) as a real-live showroom, since nearly all of its rooms are shoppable.
Four industry experts remodeled this stunning home using pieces from The Home Depot’s staple brands, including Stylewell, Home Decorators Collection, The Company Store and Hampton Bay (to name a few) in October 2022—most of which is still available to shop on the website. With just a few simple upgrades, the teams were able to take this abode from a run-of-the-mill Berkshires rental to a palace that's fit for a queen (that's you).
Should you and up to seven of your closest pals choose to stay here (it sleeps up to eight), you’ll be privy to an amazing vacation, yes, but also endless home inspo as you test-drive nearly all of the furniture and decor in the house. That jaw-dropping bed frame (from $1,300) in the primary suite? Sleep on it—see how it feels. The cool wallpaper ($136) you spotted in the guest bed? Now you can determine up close and personally if you can really envision it in your home. And who knows? Maybe those Edison-style string lights ($60) hanging above you as you take in the sunset from the patio deck have just the glow you’d like to see in your own backyard. Whatever it is that you like, there's a good chance you can bring it home with you, so to speak.
