Background: I’ve been obsessed with round, nestable vanities since the first time I saw a ’60s Italian dressing table at an estate sale. Later, I learned it was Luigi Massoni’s Dilly Dally vanity—the holy grail of compact glamour. A polished wood drum with a flip-top mirror and a stool that docks neatly inside, it was designed for small apartments but has since become a collector’s item. Today, the originals list north of $10,000 on 1stDibs. Gorgeous, yes. Practical for a New York rental? If I sold a kidney.
So when TikTok kept serving me Urban Outfitters’ take on the silhouette, I measured the sliver of space by my bedroom door, hoping it would scratch that vintage itch without the auction-house price. Here’s why I’m obsessed.
