best store-bought lemonade ranking: assorted store-bought lemonades on a kitchen counter

I have fond memories of running my first (OK, only) pop-up: a one-day-only lemonade stand with my sister as a kid. We sold cups of the stuff (the pink kind!) with store-bought chocolate chip cookies, raising money for American Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina. It didn’t exactly instill a penchant for entrepreneurship in me, but it was a fun summer experience I’ll never forget.

I know I’m not alone—this citrusy sipper as a lot of nostalgia attached to it. One drop, and you’re transported to barbecues, boardwalks and picnics past, where the sweet-and-sour elixir was the ultimate antidote for the sun’s unrelenting heat. In case you don’t feel like squeezing dozens of lemons to make a pitcher from scratch (I know I don’t), there are luckily tons of options at the grocery store. But which are worth the buy?

To find out, I tasted 11 store-bought lemonades side by side and compared them according to very scientific (read: very subjective) criteria. Below, you’ll find my picks for the best store-bought lemonades you can buy, so you can spare your wrists the heavy lifting and satisfy your craving. My reviews and overall ranking are complete with original photos too, so you’ll know exactly what you’re in for before even hitting the supermarket.

How I Chose the Best Store-Bought Lemonade

First, I considered what the perfect lemonade is (to me, anyway). It should be tart and refreshing with just enough sweetness to tame the acidity without overpowering it. It should appear as fresh as possible with a white-yellow color that looks like someone was squeezing lemons all day to make it.

Next, I scoured the internet for the most popular brands out there, ensuring a range of price points and wide availability. Once I secured all the lemonades, I tasted them cold and consecutively, comparing value, ingredients and quality, appearance and taste as I reviewed.
