Morning Routines Are Challenging for Me, But These Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes Make Them a Little Easier

I’ll be honest: I very rarely (OK, pretty much never) wear makeup. Growing up I struggled with cystic acne, so putting anything heavy on my face now has made me feel like I’m instantly clogging my pores. Aside from tinted sunscreen and a dot or two of concealer, most of the time I’m bare faced. Where am I going with this? Well, the need for a facial wipe hasn’t really been on my radar.

That is, until I became a mom.

Maybe it’s because I’m in the toddler phase or maybe it’s because I just can’t bring myself to wake up any earlier than I already do (personal problem, I’m working on it), but my morning routine went from ‘lucky if I curl my hair’ to ‘lucky if I brush it.’ In other words, I’ve had to make sacrifices. And one of those sacrifices is skincare. I’m thankful that I don’t have a problem leaving the house without makeup, but that doesn’t mean I’m OK with doing nothing to my skin.

Enter: Burt’s Bees Micellar Facial Towelettes. Normally I wouldn’t sing the praises of a humble wipe so enthusiastically, but the Burt’s Bees Micellar Towelettes not only cleanse—they hydrate too. This was an unlock for me: a two-in-one step that my morning has been missing! Not to mention, the towelettes don’t require anything more than a swipe—no extra splash of water on your face or that tight feeling, like you need to load up on moisturizer. This makes them ideal for frequent travelers, gym-goers and busy moms like me, who just want a quick refresh to start the day.

Made with 70 percent upcycled cotton from the scraps left over from textile manufacturing (hello, circular economy!), the towelettes are tree-free and Leaping Bunny certified, plus they’re certified home compostable by TUV Austria*. They’re also formulated without parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS, but they do contain Micellar water, a purified water-based gentle cleanser that effectively removes makeup without striping skin of helpful natural oils.

Have these facial towelettes transformed my morning routines? In a way, because they have afforded me a moment for myself—even if that moment is quickly followed by a toddler who refuses to brush their teeth. (Like I said, working on it.)
